My Scholarship entry - Life starts outside your comfort zone.

I want to see the world, I want to have a meaningful life where I achieve my dreams. I suffer from crippling social anxiety and always have done. Despite this I push myself to follow my dreams. Travel doesn't come naturally to me but I don't let that stop me and the next place I plan to visit is China and Tibet.
My dream for years was a working holiday in Australia and it was quite an adventure, a beautiful place and my photos uploaded are a few I took whilst on this trip. The stunning scenery there inspires great photos. I carried my camera everywhere, from catching a photo of a seagull at sunset on the ferry ride home from work; or a trip to the Blue Mountains with the breath taking views surpassing the Grand Canyon in awe inspiring beauty.
I have been a fan of photography since I was a teenager, the only thing that inspired me growing up in Hull, northern England. With a photo you can tell a story or capture a moment. Anything can be manipulated to create an idea you wish to convey but my favorite part is capturing an innocent unguarded moment where little manipulation of the image is needed.
These days anyone can take a technically good photo but I think the true art of photography is being a good observer, persistent and patient with a bit of being in the right place at the right time.
I take photos for my own enjoyment and never really considered that I could be good enough to do it professionally but this competition gives someone a chance of a lifetime to develop their skills and this is a chance I would not take for granted.
