My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
France | Monday, October 18, 2010 | 4 photos
In this assignment I have chosen to focus on relationships between inanimate objects. Every shot is from the Louvre museum, Paris. Since the Louvre is constantly crowded, my aim was to get up close to my subjects, and show their relationships in isolation to the surrounding world, enhanced by a shallow depth of field.
I wanted the images to induce a sense of intimacy in the viewer, similar to the feeling you get from spotting a deer in a forest, when you're both dead still, observing each other in total silence. I thought this would be a creative approach to portraying sculptures and objects viewed by thousands of people every day.
My passion for photography started as a teenager, and It's been a way for me to make sense of the world around me, as well as challenging my own beliefs and ideas. I believe a story can grow out of the smallest detail, and the camera is my favourite way of capturing it from the natural canvas presented to us every day.
As of today, I am 25 years old living in Brisbane, Australia. I am originally from Sweden, but chose to come to Australia alone to study Journalism when I was 20, as a challenge and growing experience. My mother is from Argentina, so I've travelled between continents regularly since I was born, which has given me an addiction for cultural diversity and rich experiences.
I believe I should receive this scholarship because of the stories I would be able to paint with whatever light gets presented to us. I would love the challenge of capturing the emotions and magical moments in time, known to be hidden in such a remote and wonderful place of the world.
