One Photograph. One Smile. One Changed Life.

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Philippines | Saturday, December 1, 2012 | 5 photos

How to explain my love for photography? It’s all I wanted to do. If I’d be chosen, I’ll be able to see the different smiles of people; to smell & eat their exotic foods; to camouflage my own culture and beliefs into theirs that will eventually make us one. To see the wondrous creations of God is my definition of a fulfilled life. But I don't want it to be just about me. I want to touch lives through my photos. I want to show people that while there's life, there's hope. To be a photographer will require a big leap of faith - but I'm willing to take risks for that's how I've been dealing w/ life ever since. My first & only camera is my grandfather’s film. I’m a scholar & a consistent Dean's lister in my university. But why photography? I believe God puts a dream in our hearts because He knows that we can achieve it. Even though my camera is old & I know little about photography; though I’m not well-off, these won’t stop me from taking good photographs & inspiring people since photography is not about status & money. It’s for those who want to share & experience life. I need as much as I want this scholarship. I can't wait to touch people & change lives one photograph at a time.
