Reflection - On the dusty plains of the Great East African Rift Valley floor, this Masai Layoni is wrapped up in his Masai shuka. Taking a break and respite from being the shepherd and the cold winds, there is reflection in his eyes.

Responsibilty - Armed with their spears and sticks these young Masai Layonis(uncircumcised warriors) are charged with a very important job, to tend to their cattle,goats and sheep. They will spend months alone on the East African Rift Valley floor always on guard over their animals. It is a big burden to bear for such youth.

Expectations - The Datoga who also live in and around the Great East African Rift Valley and not far from the Masai are also nilotic pastoralists. There is a centuries old mutual dislike between these two tribes in Northern Tanzania. These young Datoga girls possibly ponder their future in Masailand ?
