My story started in October of 2009 when I came across a poster advertising the "Disney Experience". As I was at uni already, my lecturer advised us all of the info session. I went along and listened with great interest to what Sarah had to say about an internship at Disney World in Florida. It sounded like a dream come true. I had a dentist appointment that afternoon so I had to make an interview time for after that. The interview process was simple really - I was asked why I would be suitable for a role at Disney and what I had to offer them. Doing a tourism degree and working in a souvenir shop helped :-) I had to then send off a copy of my passport and proof that I was studying before I could complete the application.
I got an email telling me I was accepted within about 3 weeks. I started to tear up coz it was such a shock. I hadnt heard much for a while as there was another group going in January.
It was then a process of being accepted, getting a background check then heading up to Auckland to get a Visa (what an experience that was!!) Once the Visa had arrived, I was free to book my flights. I got a quote from STB (the company organsing the whole internship)and a quote from a few travel agents and flying the same airline - Qantas - was about $400 cheaper with STB. Once the flights were all booked I was able to get insurance - it is quite difficult to get insurance that covers both medical and travel. World nomads are recommended by Lonely Planet have the best deal $500 for 8 months :-)
Only 4 weeks to go before the big day. i will keep you posted re. the big day
