About pegsmeanderings

I have traveled to near 70 countries since my first trip way back in the late 60's when I left home with a knapsack and spent a year hitchhiking around Europe. I have ridden on a motorcycle from Vancouver to Panama, crewed on a yacht from Panama to San Diego and spent a year living aboard a 30 ft. trawler exploring British Columbia's west coast. I have taken 15 wonderful major train journeys and I have experienced a wild freighter ride up the Coast of Norway to Russia. I have taken a rice barge down the Mekong River. In the fall I will be sailing the Croatian Coast. I have lived and worked in Japan, Hong Kong, Mexico, Britain and the USA.

I have been a skydiver and a scuba diver, jumping in Canada and Hong Kong and diving in the South Pacific and Mexico.

I feel that I have become a "world citizen", where I have learned to appreciate many different cultures and always the the very distinct pleasure of meeting new people on each adventure.

Travel has made my life so much richer. I am constantly looking forward to the next journey. Soon will be a two week art retreat in Mexico, a ride on the Trans-Mongolian and a freighter journey on the Aranui through South Pacific Islands. A return to India and Africa are compelling ideas.

Once bitten, you never get rid of the "travel bug" ... living proof here! Only today, I'm not so much a forerunner of adventure travel, but rather a 65 year old active senior citizen doing senior soft adventure trips.

So thankful that I can still do them!
