Tunisia - A travel to the desert

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Friday, November 4, 2011 | flickr photos

These photos were taken in Tunisia during a travel that ends in the beggining of the Desert of Sahara. It was magnificent to portrait the kid, who illustrates the poverty and a bit of the lifestyle of Berbere people. I find fantastic that someone gave the child a candy and the dog was waiting for his part. The roads to the desert were crossed with sand bring by the wind and out of nowhere it appears an old man riding an old mortocycle!! My wish was to wait for a better framework, but i was on a bus, and the bus was on a hurry!!:D
At the third photo we reach Matmata, and we could watch that dry montains with arid land. The constructions we see in the montain is to catch the waters from the rain and they are some kind of aqueducts. I was so sorry i didn´t have with me my wide lens...:(
Well, and then we reach the beginning of the desert, and in the fourth photo i had approached to a beautiful camel that looks like it smiles to me and said: " Hey!! Welcome!!" But in the last photo i couldn´t believe!! How can camels have such an ugly mouth?? I thought to myself, "You need a Dentist urgently dude!!!" ;)

Well, about me, i´m a 32 year old Sports teacher that lives in love with photography. I try to look to everything with passion and emotion and take the shot! Photography completes my life and if i could that´s what i loved to do my entirely life! I love to travel, to meet new cultures, to photograph people, animals, landscapes so i think if i win this contest definitely would be a greatest thing that could happen to me. My dream of life is to become an National Geographic Photographer, and to travel all around the world making dramatic and beautiful photos! Well, i would give anything to have the chance to learn with Jason!! Hope i can get the chance! Best Regards! Pedro
