The first chapter of our travels begins in Thailand! We spent a short amount of time in Bangkok but were happy to leave the heat and craziness of the city for a more relaxed but only slightly cooler Chiangmai! Peter and Ryan have been working at their 4 week Natural Building Internship at the Panya Project which is located about 1.5 hours from Chiang Mai, take a read if you're interested www.panyaproject.org They're working on building the new Sala (which is mentioned on the website) using all natural and recycled materials including mud bricks which we've been making from scratch. It didn't take the guys at Panya long to find out that Ryan and Peter are electricians so for the last week or so they've been mainly doing electrical work and less on the building side of things. We've been eating vegetarian while at Panya, with alot of the produce grown in their gardens and while it took us quite a while to adjust our tastes, our digestive systems are actually all the better for it we think!
While the guys have been working hard, I've been doing some volunteer work in the mornings, helping out in the gardens, kitchen and also with an art project which has been fun and then have free afternoons most days. It is really so hot during the days at the moment though and as I'm writing this a huge thunderstorm is rolling in which is bringing a nice change in temperature!
Peter and I made a trip from Panya back to Chiang Mai for a weekend, found op shoppers heaven, enjoyed the restaurants, coffee and the night bazaar!
Next stop for me is Bali, to spend a month working on Empire of Bees with Claire. The boys will finish their internship towards the end of March and then travel over land to Laos where i'll meet up with them in mid-April.
Time now for dinner, a beer and a massage! xox
