“The Pearl of the North” - that is how they call the city. From the very first seconds you realize that there is something special in the air of Boston.
You don’t have to meet the sunrise standing in the Harbor to understand that every day in Boston is perfect;
You don’t have to know the history to see the signs from the past around you;
You don’t have to try local seafood or famous “Regina’s Pizza” to realize that these are the most delicious things you can find Up north;
You don’t even have to remember that well-known “Dunkin Donuts” originally come from Massachusetts to feel them smelting in your mouth;
However, if you do, you get it all much faster.
Why Boston? Why not anything else? There are some reasons:
- The city of knowledge and science
Boston has the best universities in the country, such as MIT and Harvard University. That is why there is the largest number of scientists, atheists and people of art among American cities;
- The city of freedom and independence
The movement against slavery started here. And world-famous Boston Tea-Party was the beginning of the Independence War;
- The city of pride and honor
Boston had 2 strong waves of immigration – Irish and German. These people still keep and value their traditions, cuisine and languages. That is why you can meet people with “Celtic pride”, “Proud to be an Irish”, “Lucky as Irish” pins, or people speaking only German, despite living all their lives in Boston;
- The city of stories and history
Boston was set by the Dutch, who later lost it to English. Then the city let several waves of immigration in, stopped slavery and started the war. Sounds impressive, doesn’t it?
- The city of winners and champions
In addition to all that, we have some good news to those who are keen on sports! Boston is a home town for “Bruins” (4-time NHL champions), “Red Sox” (8-time World series winners and 13-time League champions) and legendary “Boston Celtics” (17-time NBA champions). We have nothing to add.
The list can be endless. We will just admit that Boston is the economical, financial and cultural center of the Up north with the wealthiest population in the country.
“The Pearl of the North”, that is how they call the city.
