After 9 days in Egypt being totally amazed with the Pyramids and Temples, and the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the Nile River and heaps of ather fantastic treasures in the Cairo Museum (eg King Tut's gold death mask and sarcophogus), we have now settled in to Instanbul, Turkey.

What a great city!! Beautifully built around the Bosphorous with an amazing array of treasures of it's own. The magnificent architecture of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and underground cystern, and the excitement of the Grand Bazaar and Taxim square all provide a thrill a minute!

The only thing that has spoilt the trip so far was when someone stole Cleo's purse (with credit cards, licence and money)while we were on the crowded tram yesterday. A good lesson about being very careful at all times!! We are still hassling about getting some emergency cards...here's hoping.

Today was a BIG day around Sultanahmet with the official visit of the President of Iran. More security than tourists!!! Soldiers, police, tanks, snipers, barricades, traffic gridlock and the lot. We were hoping the event went off without a big bang!!

After a couple of more days in Instanbul, we are off on a trip along the coast, past Gallipoli and Troy. Looking forward to that!!

Sounds like fun with all the sites and shopping for a new purse or maybe a hidden money belt.
Almost as good as fishing and green paw paw tea!
Good thing British Museum didn't pinch all the relics from Egypt.
Don't forget to plunder a few goodies for Australia!
