My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Portugal | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos
Born and raised in São Paulo, I was a boy scout since the age of 7. I’ve traveled the country and abroad, and learned how to appreciate, respect, and be passionate about nature and people. This passion moved me into hiking, reading, surfing, traveling, cooking, philosophy, cinema, arts and yoga; and photography helped me synthesize all these subjects and find a path among them.
Poor quality equipment forced me to practice composition and to educate my eyes and brains to take the pictures I really wanted to. Later, an interest in image itself arose, reporting an intellectual understanding of the act of taking pictures, of the significance of photos, and finally of the communication power of photography.
For me, photography is an instant: when the photographer feels so blended with the subject he is able to capture the moment. Lights, colors, feelings, reflections, smells, perspectives become part of another story, starting from the point the picture was taken. Strongly attached to this way of thinking, I opt not to retouch my photos, they keep on as I saw them, as I felt them and as I took them. My objective is to always improve my technique to take the best out of this instant.
