Woke up to the birds about 6am and headed off on a short walk along the Bell River. Tom the Polish guy was not going to Bell Gorge as he was going straight to El Questro Station. Couldn't believe he had driven all the way in there and only saw the camp ground.
I headed off to Bell Gorge which was a 10km drive and 1 km walk along an undulating rocky path to reach the gorge and waterfalls which were spectacular. A cool swim through the gorge to the falls was refreshing.Swapped travel tips and later contact details with Graham and Yolande from Mallacoota in Victoria.
Swapped contact details with Kay and Ron (who had made my measuring stick) as they had now arrived at Silent Grove camp. They said I would get a shock when I got to the Pentecost River Crossing. On my way to Mount Barnett Roadhouse and Manning Gorge I stopped at the Iminji Roadhouse where I met a guy waiting for the diesel truck to arrive as the Roadhouse had run out of fuel. Luckily I had my long range fuel tank so it wasn't an issue for me. Galvans Gorge along the way was beautiful and very peaceful and I saw some Aboriginal Art on the rocks and some wallaroos. On the road I stopped to talk to David, a French bicycle tourer who had been touring Europe, Asia and Australia by bicycle for 26 months! I gave him directions to a bush camping area at Galvans Gorge.
At the Mount Barnett Roadhouse I met Laurie and his mates Lloyd, David and Fred (3 generations)
from Bunyip in Victoria (a few kms from where I was born) who were heading off to Mitchell Falls the next day which was of some interest to me. We all checked into the nearby Manning Gorge campground where I ran into Freda and Yvonne also. They had spent their previous nights camping at March Fly Glen and here at Manning Gorge. Neither of us were sure of our movements for the next few days so no definite plans were made.
