My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I picked up a camera for the first time 2 years ago after a traumatic breakup and job redundancy inspired me to go on a solo mission around the world. On all my previous trips, my ex had been the photographer and I had been the writer.
Left to my own devices, I discovered a latent flare for photography. Fans of my blog were very enthusiastic about my photos which spurred me on. By the time I returned, my camera had become an almost permanent extension to my arm.
In the difficult time that followed, my newly found passion for photography kept me focused on the present rather than a decimated past and uncertain future. More than that, it allowed me to see the beauty in everything I saw. I began seeing life through a lens and ever since, I see everything as a shot; as composition and colour; I yearn to see it from different perspectives and I’m hungry for the points of view of others.
For me this is an opportunity to continue my journey - to give shape to a future where doing what I love conquers my fears and leaves a trail of beauty and creation in its wake - not just for me but for all who would bear witness to it and feel some greater possibility stir within themselves.
