My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

During a pool game, my friend and me decided that we would do a great adventure traveling by car to Patagonia (South America). It's more than 13.500km from Florianopolis (Brazil) through Mendoza, Andes, Perito Moreno Glacier in El Calafate, Torres del Paine in Puerto Natales to arrive in Ushuaia, the southernmost city, in 28 days. In this adventure we took over 7000 photos and have stories to tell to our grandchildren for a long time.

We started in Brazil and spent by Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. It was amazing to realize that we know each of these countries rather than the residents themselves. Learn about typical food and drinks, people's behavior in the liveliest tourist towns and cities more isolated, the weather and vegetation of each region.

There are many tourists in Patagonia. In winter they looks for ski resorts, and summer for hiking, trekking, rafting, biking or even fishing. Furthermore, it has romantic cities conducive to a beautiful honeymoon.

The landscape in Patagonia is desert region, and broke the car in a highway made me walk about 40km in the company of guanacos and with only a water bottle and a flashlight, to the closest city to ask for help while my friend waited in the car in the middle of nowhere.

Walking the national parks of the region gave us know incredible scenery. Something that would not possible to see in some conventional group travel. Sleeping in the car, camping or couchsurfing made the difference in this adventure.
