Local workers break down cement blocks of what was the local McDonald, the main place to socialize for Padang's youth.

The main city mall, inaugurated in 2008 collapsed in a matter of seconds, leaving hundreds trapped in the rubble.

A grandmother and her granddaughter stare at where their home used to be. In the afternoon of the earthquake they were playing in a field nearby when the earth swallowed 10 members of their family.
