“Voice” of Santa Susanna

The sun is shining, the birds are singing as well as my soul is filling up with joy when I hit the road. Do you want some energy or rhythm? It’s a piece of cake! Then you should go to Spain with me.
It was my first trip to Europe, one of the trips you will dream about through many long years.
In spite of the great cultural heritage of Catalonia and despite the fact that I’m head over heels with drop-dead gorgeous Sagrada Familia, I blew in to a place of Santa Susanna, Costa del Maresme.
Traditional cafes, silent streets full of sunlight are an ideal place for a rest. You drive a rented bike with a sunshade and watch painters making portraits, children riding on a merry-go-round and other tourists just drinking wine. But wait a minute. Where are the passion and the colour of Spain?
Married couples with children gather in this silent town for a calm repose as if they want to admire the sights of Catalonia from a distance eating paella.
But I like to examine everything properly. That’s why the majority of the days I preferred to spend in Barcelona, getting food for thought.
Once I jumped off the suburban electric train which brought the happy me to this safe refuge from Barcelona and felt the weather getting worse together with my mood. The sky clouded over and I prepared to be caught in the rain. Suddenly I was stupefied by the sound blowing the air: “Boom!”
«Now, that is a thunder! » - I thought while the sound was getting stronger and closer.
The wind brought bizarre sounds of storm and probably I would have got scared if I hadn’t seen a medley stream of people at the end of the street moving towards me. They were dancing despite the drops of rain slapping their faces. This particolored crowd was dancing energetically, playing drums, tin cans and kitchen battery.
Where is my spoon? I suddenly got a desire to become a part of this “thunder”.
Different rhythms animated the sleepy streets of the town at a lighting speed. I met several groups of drummers one by one each playing its own unique melody. And I was as if moving through the music.
It seemed everyone forgot about paella and wine enjoying the “voice” of Santa Susanna.
It was a real surprise. Now I felt that no matter what the color of the sky was the sun was shining inside my soul. And I’ll tell you what. This is the very moment you’ll dream about for many long years.
