"Ignorance is bliss"
Amongst the people grieving in the crowd, tourists thoughtlessly enjoy the breathtaking view of the poppies while stopping to take a photo.
Notice the ironic use of the “v” gesture, originally used as a sign for victory in WWII, which would evolve to become a universal peace sign later on. Its use here has no bearing on the events surrounding the people in this photograph.
