My name is Alexandra, I’m originally from Russia, but for the last 8 years I’ve been living in China and during this time have explored South-East Asia. Travelling is one of my favorite activities, most of the time I travel alone, that gives me plenty of time to concentrate on taking pictures.
I got interested into photography 4 years ago and since then got more involved. I love to shoot people – both those from other cultures and my closest friends. Everytime environment and current attitude bring me some new visions of the subject. Photography helps me to express the world as I see it and show something in a way that others can’t see.
As I am basically self-taught in a photography, I think this opportunity to be mentored by a professional will be very beneficial to my skills. You can read a lot about equipment and techniques, but I believe all that is collateral. What really makes a good photographer is an ability to feel the space and feel the right moment and you can get a lot from the person who succeeded in it. It’s also very instructive to observe how the master works and it’s priceless when you have someone who can guide you through your obstacles.
