As of this minute, we're 105 hours till take off for Saigon, Vietnam. Then it will be right at 20 hours of actual flight time, not counting the time to change planes. then for the next 12 days my official missionary name will be: Stretch! God will no doubt stretch me. I figure this will be perfect, since He'll have me bundled up like a sardine in a tiny airplane seat for 20 plus hours... Maybe he'll use me to stretch others as well, who knows. One thing I do know, is that God has something mighty in store for all of us on this trip to the other side of the world!
I think about my aunt Rachel and uncle Howell, who spent 40 years in Africa translating the bible. I think of all the missionaries who have visited the churches I've been in over the last 40 years. Their stories of God's hand working miracle after miracle in those far away places, and right here at home. I think of the miracles He has worked in my life, and all the people I have known. God is truly amazing!
Please pray for the team as we go, and keep up with the blog. Each of us will be blogging daily about the trip, what we see, the people we meet, and what God is doing in this far away place.
I remember the great commission, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel. I'm looking for an excuse to find a golf coarse to preach on in Saigon, and Hanoi. I'm sure there is a Vietnamese golf pro who needs tending to...:)
Talk to ya'll soon,
Stretch
