My name is Otto Chen, I’m currently studying Master of Urban Design in University of Melbourne in Australia. Urban design involves the design of buildings, groups of buildings, spaces and landscapes, and the establishment of frameworks and processes that facilitate successful development. For study purposes, photography is the easiest and fast method of documenting the environment. As a result, in concomitance with my study, I started photography as a hobby. Now photography has turn into a passion.

I believe photography is the perfect way of capturing and expressing the connection we have with our surroundings. When I am photographing a landscape, a person, a family or the stars in the sky my worries in life just fade away and I become one. It is a very real experience for me.

Over the past 3 year I have slowly developed my photography skills and technic, however, I know there is much to learn. I will bring commitment and enthusiasm to the trip. The prospect of acquiring new understanding of a foreign culture and practical skills through this travel scholarship will enable me to become not only a better photographer. I hope you give me the opportunity to realize my ambition.
