This is Malpe's main business centre - More than 5000 families do fishing for their livelihood. Many are involved directly in fishing activities and some indirectly. For fishing they Sail 1000 kilometers deep in the sea,Using 5000 Liters of fuel in a ten days trip. #Location: natural fishing harbour of Malpe,at Udupi,India.

Day start with the repairing of the most effective tools in fisherman's life - Fishing Net.
Fishing Net need repair after every trip. They commonly catch leaves and brush and sometimes even large trees are propelled into nets. All it takes a net needle,

some replacement mono-filament and

there are more then 300 mechanized boats -they at-least have to catch fish worth 3Lakhs(INR) in a 10 days trip, which is the Running cost of the boat for one trip.
