My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Poland | Wednesday, July 3, 2013 | 5 photos
I love people. Every single person is an expression of something unique and amazing. As a result of this, I love to travel, to meet people, to see them in their worlds, in their daily activities, to talk with them. And of course, I love visiting new places, admire the beauties that surround us and that often elude us. Thanks to photography, I can freeze some of these moments, share with others people, enjoy a single frame of the past in the present.
In this series of photos I tried to see the mutation that pervades Poland in recent years. A country in a conflict between the recent past and a great desire for a bright future. The photos were taken in Lodz, the city that show this duality, the "sin city" always in balance between decadence and redemption, a crazy city where you can see a happy father playing with his son careless to the drunken person (or maybe sick) lying a few feet away on the ground.A city with huge investment in infrastructure, transport and gigantic building works that completely change the skyline, like the "big sister" Warsaw, which tries to approach while maintaining its own identity. A city in black and white, like the people who live there.
