Incredible India

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 10 photos
Photography first peaked my interest at the age of six. I often watched my father emerge from the washroom with wet photos and lay them out in the kitchen to dry overnight. Years passed and at the age of sixteen, I purchased my first SLR. That moment marks the beginning of my falling in love with photography. Eleven years later, while looking at a photo of a tiny tropical island, I spontaneously decided that the money I had been saving throughout my short career as a software developer was to be used for travel adventures and photography. Despite all my parents' protests, I quit my job and flew to Asia. My journey lasted for fifteen months and has become the most valuable life lesson thus far.
Recently, my yearning for further adventure took me to India. Since landscape photography has become a comfort zone, I decided to stray from it by attempting to capture the culture of the country. India gets a bad reputation of not being the cleanest country around, with scattered trash anywhere an eye might fall. What I found interesting however, was that the cleanliness is actually an important aspect of the culture. Many people in India did attempt to clean up their surroundings.
