Photography Scholarship 2012 Entry

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

United Kingdom | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

The sense of energy created from taking a photograph is not of a childish nature but is a fulfillment of my passion. I remember riding my bike to my local beach to take seascapes at night. I finally created the image I had imagined, through hours of experimenting. The joy and excitement of this took over me and I danced on the beach in the pitch black of a winter’s night.
I want my images to tell a story to the viewer, for the subject to educate us both. The journey allows me to find out more about the world and also myself. ‘Blood, Sweat and Gears’ was created to show the subculture of amateur banger racing, depicting the adrenaline and rivalry of the racing.
I like the energy of exploration, not knowing where it is going or where it will end and document the journey.
To explore the world and document my journey is all I want to do. I never imagined coming across an opportunity like this, which will further and deepen my knowledge, helping me to pursue a career in this field once graduated.
This experience comes at a pinnacle time in my life where I am moving from education to profession, taking part in this can only enrich the transition.
