Machu Picchu, here I come

For the longest time, i've wanted to keep a travel log. I kept a bit of a journal in Spain, did a little writing in Argentina, even wrote things for which I actually got paid on some of my trips to Mexico. But that doesn't mean I want to be a travel writer. instead, i'm hoping to simply better keep track of what I saw, who I met, what I did. To remember the little things better, the details that might otherwise slide out of my mind... This should come easy -- although i already know parts of the trip will involve journaling without a computer. Gasp. I'll have to translate my notes as I go along. Which brings me to my next point. i've now spent almost ten years writing down notes, things that other people said, in notebooks issued to me by my company. Yes, my employer paid me to write about what other people said. and it's been great. I've covered myriad election nights, prison riots and forest fires. I've written about social workers, jail guards, gay cowboys. But this is my time to write what I'm saying, my point of view. I'll be editor-less and without a deadline. It will be fun. And maybe even good for me. Already, Ive started a few notes on my trip to Peru in october. (the 8th through the 19th, to be exact) so I'll post those as my first (ok, second) entry.
