My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I walk through a forest. I am seated by a creek. I climb a tree overhanging the water and peer across at the trees and plants. The water is still. I do not want to break the spell. There is a mystical feeling. I see no one but I feel I am not alone. I wish to share the surrounding beauty. This is the force driving me to capture an image. Once I expressed my creativity through music and dance; now through my camera. I drove everyone crazy with the constant sound of Click Click. My feeling when I first picked up a camera has not faded. Behind the lens I go on a journey to eternalize life’s unnoticed facets. At moments I feel the power of nature and life vibrating beneath my feet. I want my photos to evoke emotions, to make the viewer feel present and transport him to another place. I am compelled to retrace journeys with my camera, capturing untold stories before they are transformed by the struggle of development, globalization and climate change. This award offers an incredible opportunity to learn from a photography expert, taking the step to telling my story to an audience beyond friends and family. If awarded this opportunity every atom of my being would strive to avail of it.
