Trauma: is a type of damage to the psyche that occurs as a result of a severely distressing event.
that's when it happened
February 27th 2014
a day that will be forever carved in my memory.
it started out beautifully, blue sky, warm sun, and strong wind , at the 4S hotel in Dahab, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, away from every thing that was familiar to us, "us" meaning 17 smart successful impressive young men and women.
we were there to be trained on how to be leaders and entrepreneurs, to learn, to change there world.
we started our first session, we met our trainers and colleges, meeting all of them for the firs time, except one,a pale white short guy with brown hair and eyes and glasses, my best friend Omar
I've known him for 4 years, from collage and work, i made him promise not to set next to me all the time so that I'd get the chance to mingle "i want to expand my horizons" i said, he agreed.
we went to the restaurant on the roof for a long lunch break, we were 6 at the table, the view was wonderful, you could see the sky and the mountains,i looked at the amazing sea and said "we should swim"
"LET'S GO"Kholoud said
" NOW?" i asked
"we still have time" she answered
Sara:"but i wanna go to the market!"
Hadeer:"we'll go to the market at night"
Omar:"but i don't have anything to wear!"
"then don't come" i said teasingly
then Mahmoud said "what your wearing will do."
the decision was made.
We thought it was a great idea, we're seizing every chance to have fun, we're only staying for a week after all, when i got to the car, we'd became 13 people!
10 minutes later, we reached the beach.
even though the youngest of us is over 21, we were running like 3 year olds, fulled with joy, some took pictures, some sat down, and some like me, jumped right into the water, it was ice cold, i called for everyone to join me, and they did, eventually 9 of us where in the water, laughing, joking, splashing water at each others faces, it was the most fun i had in moths.. and then suddenly Mahmoud started screaming.
"GUYS HELP ME GET MAGDY OUT!!"
NO one moved, we where in chock!
"AM NOT KIDDING, HIS DRAWING"
and it was like you hit play on a paused movie, at once everyone hurried, and we sat him on the sand,
"Are you ok?no more water for you" i told him
"where is Omar? Mahmoud asked me
"i don't know!" i answered
"can he swim?"
"no" i answered in a wispier.
"OMAR!" i screamed, and as i listened to the silance answer me, my heart clinshed and i knew.
i will never see him again.
