Setting the quarter-mile long net with the threat of stormy weather on the horizon. Though sunsets and sunrises are beautiful, many of the days are gray and the weather can change from tranquil to violent in an instant.

As the boat rounds and meets with the skiff, the crew starts the massive hydraulic wench, called a block, to start bringing the net and fish on board. Efficiency and timing is critical, as other boats circle and wait their turn to make a set. If any mistakes occur, Beverly J could lose her turn in line, and that means losing the next catch of salmon.
