Bob van Beers is a 26-year old tourism
professional. Originally from the Netherlands, his travels have
brought him to 25 different countries on 5 of the World's 7
continents. This album features a selection of five of photos taken
during a recent trip to Mexico, illustrating the diversity of Mexico
and it's people. Look behind the negative image of drugs related
crime and see a beautiful country with sandy beaches, friendly
people, a rich culture, delicious food and a stunning variety of
landscapes.
At a young age I already decided I
wanted to explore the world. When I wa 12 years old my parents gave
me a new bicycle, and on a Sunday morning I decided to cycle to
Belgium, almost 100 kilometers away, and without telling anyone. I
made it to Belgium and back in a day, but from that day on I was not
allowed to leave home without telling anyone anymore. Since that day
my trips have only become longer and further away. When I finished high school it was an
easy decision to study International Tourism at a university in the
Netherlands. While studying I used every possible opportunity to go
abroad, combined with a part time job that involved intensive
travelling as well.
During these trips I developed a large
interest in photography, both to capture my memories and to share my
experiences with my international friends. While travelling I like to
photograph the destination, but also the people that make the
destination the way it is. Interacting with the local population also
enables me to truly get to know the place and its culture.
Going on a photo assignment with Jason Edwards would allow me to take my
desired career in photography to a higher level.
