Nepal, Images and Impressions

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Nepal | Saturday, October 16, 2010 | 5 photos

I was 13 years old when my family started receiving a subscription to the NG magazine. I never really read the articles but the images captivated me and opened my eyes to the story's of people, places and situations that were so foreign to my existence in a small, suburban city in Australia. The NG Photographers became my heroes and inspired me to want to become a photographer, travel the world and take images that would inspire and open other peoples eyes through powerful and amazing images.
After a few years in a 'real' job (not photography), I decided to fulfill one of my dreams and Travel. Nepal was first on my list. That is where these photos were taken. Here are some of my impressions of Nepal. It is a place full of life and deeply spiritual. Worship and devotion is a part of everyone's daily life there with different faiths and beliefs exsisting together in harmony and repect of one another. Although most don't have much in terms of wealth and in recent years have suffered the effects of a civil war and political unrest , they are a people that celebrate life to the fullist and in hope of a better future. After my traveling experiences, I realized that I must pursue what I am passionate about so I enrolled in a 2 year Diploma of Photography at TAFE and I am finishing at the end of this year.
I am interested in Travel, people, culture, nature and social issues. My goal is to work professionally as a photo documentist. To have the opportunity to go on assignment and to be mentored by an NG photographer would be a dream come true and an absolutely, invaluable learning experience for me.
