After the initial buzz and excitement of learning that my little pocket iPod Touch could easily connect via wi-fi to some reputable establishments, One was non-plussed to learn that THIS particular website has a singular problem with the Safari web browser on said piece of enlightened equipment.
Just an itty bitty minor one that prevents me from typing into the Memo field for entering my diary notes. Everything else is peachy except some dodgy Mozilla incompatibility. So close but not yet there!
For those who are interested, I've discovered that HP Notebooks don't appear to survive an immense flogging at the hands of caring, typewriter-friendly tourists. On this particular model, there almost isn't an S and the space bar is erratic. So team this up with the dodgy French keyboard layout and an even greater challenge ensues!
So onto Montpellier news. What a great gem of a city. After being totally pleasantly surprised by the efficiency and regularity of the tram system, the Old Town was extaordinary. One of the discoveries on these travels are the towns that preserve their heritage and make these old towns an integral part of their everyday life.
To the credit of the town planners, they have also integrated some impressive modern buildings into a style that effortlessly blends with the older architecture. There were signs of the recently departed ruggers world cup with banners and signs around the traps, but not many tourists that stayed that long!
Of deep and brooding concern is the travesty that is occurring as I type. Yet even as you read through the tripe a troubling matter is at hand! Montpellier has an Aussie pub called Ayers Rock that serves Fosters! Worse yet, it isn't open until 6:30pm! How unAustralian is that! I'm starting a petition as soon as I can get my apathetic tail into a heads position that makes my blood boil enough to ring the Prime Minister...
Anyhoo, enough of that cruddola, onto the unforgettable experience that is/was Toulouse...
