CuChi False Door

CuChi False Door

yesterday our guide Phuong took me (Beth had tummy problems and stayed behind unfortunately) to the CuChi tunnels, where the VC and their supporters hid in tunnels up to 3 stories underground - everything was camouflaged amazingly (here's a cool pic of me closing a very small leaf-camouflaged trap door above my head), with air holes inside fake termite mounds and cooking fire smoke venting 100 meters away. i opted for only 30 meters underground because i do get somewhat claustrophobic sometimes and didn't like the idea of being stuck between other people - as it turned out i was alone with a Vietnamese soldier who guided me through with a flashlight (there were also some lights near the floor) - the tunnel was 1.2 meters high (I'm about 1.6 for our US friends to have a basis for comparison) and quite narrow as you can see from the photo

Great pix.
Sounds like you are having a terrific time.
I bought some Polo shirts for $6 in Saigon.
Factory must be there.

Nancy, You look so cute in that tunnel. Nice outfit! Sorry to hear your traveling buddy is not feeling well.
We have a new president of Verizon Business, his name is Fran Shammo (sounds like the whale (Shammo) at Marine World). Bill Lane is going to be a grandpa in May. That all the news for now. Keep having fun. Love, Mary

Reading the blog before I crash after many hours on the plane back from HCMC (Saigon to you old-timers). It's making me very nostalgic.
