Fortress of Carcassone en route to Jesse and Georgette's

Fortress of Carcassone en route to Jesse and Georgette's

will make this a short entry since i realize i've now been back from the trip almost 3 months, and it's time to wrap up this blog!

we had a lovely 4 days with Jesse and Georgette, and Koos who came down from Limoges, and of course Indy the dog

1 day we went to the food court for lunch and since this is France, the food was GREAT - fresh leg of lamb, delicious desserts, wine...yum yum

we also of course had to visit the fortress - most of it was restored in the mid-nineteenth century, but it looks like it all dates from medieval times - it was an inspiration for Walt Disney's castles and matches all your mind pictures of knights in shining armor and ladies wearing conical headdresses - a few people still live within the fortress city, although most of the services useful to residents have been displaced by more touristy vendors - but it is still beaucoup fun to walk around
