My Scholarship entry - Southern Africa

It is difficult to write why I should be chosen as I am and always have been quite bashful about my photography. I started shooting when I was very young, about 5 years old. And I always continued to photograph throughout adulthood, but almost always privately, sometimes not even looking at the finished shots myself.
But as I got older, I became bolder. And I started showing my work. And people complimented my photography though it was, and continues to be, difficult for me to accept the praise. When I reached about 40 years of age, I became bolder still. And started entering my photography into international, juried exhibitions and competitions. And I was stunned that, though I had hoped maybe I would be included in one exhibition, that instead, my work has been included in many. I'm amazed.
So I've become bolder still, retiring about one year ago from my first career as a business executive to throw myself into the fine art of making pictures.
I would love to be chosen for this honor because it would propel me further into my new career. This new life of being an artist is not easy, and I have yet to make any real money, but I love it. This fellowship would further validate my life choice.
