My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I grew up in Pemba, a small island close to Zanzibar, where we lived by the seaside amidst natural beauty. Growing up in this environment made me to look at nature in a different way. Today, one of the primary reasons for me to pursue photography is to capture things around me be it wildlife, nature or architecture.
I have been in the highly demanding Apparel Manufacturing Industry for 35+ years but I still held on to my camera by capturing varied subjects that I came across while traveling worldwide. Gradually,I connected to my subjects and felt that it was not only about clicking a photo but also about studying and understanding the subject . For example, earlier I used to take a tight shot of wildlife, now I try to show them in their natural habitat.
At this juncture, I am keen to work with a mentor under whose guidance I can learn the finer nuances and creative angle of photography. I aspire to work towards conservation of nature with specific focus on bio diversity hot spots which are under severe threat. I believe this Scholarship Program is a once in a life time opportunity which will help me take a leap towards a new life –a second innings indeed.
