Istanbul is the only city in the world which is placed on two continents. This is the city of the old museums, culture and beauty. But the most it's the city of dreams. Many people dream about travelling to this amazing city and I was one of them too. Try pretending the level of my excitement when the leader of girl-scout team called me and said that I was chosen as a 10-day scout camp leader in Istanbul!
Every day was the new adventure in this city. Even the whole day wasn't enough to do everything I wanted there. And finally, after five days of non-stop museum tours and walking around, I got tired. Not physically , but I realized that I needed to do something that wasn't a regular tourist thing.
I and my two friends decided to see regular shops of Istanbul. Not realizing how far we went, accidentally lost our way and the group. We had no GPS, maps or other things that would help us. Well, we had only little amount of money and the number of emergency written on our hands.
One of my friends took her mobile phone and was about to call this number and the second one made her stop and said: explore! She answered with astonishment on her face. And I was standing still and listening to them. Then I thought: why not? Maybe we can just walk and let the others find us? Why not?
And we started exploring.
And then I found something that changed the way I lived before: Sometimes getting lost is the right way to find myself. Then I continued walking in the narrow and absolutely unknown streets of Istanbul and they seemed very familiar to me. Little shops for locals, people dressed traditionally, many sweets around, sun all over the place and a true smile on children's face when I smiled to them - It was happiness. That's the short list of things what I've seen there. That was the point. I found what could make me happy: Finding an unknown into the well-known things.
