My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
New Zealand | Friday, June 28, 2013 | 5 photos
I'm Nina, a 20 year old photography student living in New Zealand. I have been told that photography is about death, but for me it is about life. I bring my camera everywhere so that I never miss an opportunity to document aspects of life.
I would love for photography to take me everywhere one day, all over the world, documenting everything I see. This is exactly why I gravitate towards National Geographic. Being at Uni has made me realise that I want my photos to make a difference as opposed to using it to sell products. I want to make people think, reconsider and I wish to leave a mark.
My drive at the end of the day is my pride. I hate coming home after any kind of shoot only to realise I didn't get what I wanted or what I’m capable of. Producing good shots means I can share them with the world. When I fail to do this I go back to the drawing board to learn from my mistakes. This experience would mean the world to me, Jason’s mentoring would be so beneficial to my own documentary photography. I wish is to make a living from photography so that I can be one of those people who say they get by on what they love doing.
Let me prove myself to you. Thank you for your time.
