My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
Worldwide | Monday, September 12, 2011 | 5 photos
Hi there, i am an enthusiastic science student and budding photographer originally from New Zealand. I currently study zoology and would love a chance to travel to South Africa to observe and photograph the stunning animals. I recently had the opportunity to trek through Nepal with my family and have chosen to display both colour and black and white photos from my trip in December last year. The Nepali landscape and people are simply beautiful, i took great joy in composing photographs of the many amazing sights i saw while trekking through the Annapurna circuit. It was inspiring to see people finding great happiness in their day to day lives despite the extreme environment they live in or the lack of possessions they own. The series of photos i have presented illustrate both my joy of traveling as well as my respect for the Nepali way of life. To describe myself i would say i am a highly motivated person with a passion for creating a better world for future generations. Although i love photography in its pure form i also would like to use the photos i take to create social change. In my opinion the conservation of natural habitats is very important, i believe photography can capture the beauty of nature and prove to people what things are worth protecting. In a similar way a captivating photo that tells a story of poverty and loss can inspire us to help out the people in the greatest need of support. The photos presented as with all the photos i love have not been digitally enhanced in any way and i hope they share the same story as i tried to capture. Thank you for your time i would love the chance to learn from you.
