My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Kenya | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

My passion for photography began with my first encounter with a dark room at 13. Since then I have studied photography, dark room, studio lighting and more recently digital photography and specifically travel photography in a masterclass with Richard I'Anson (a travel photographer from my home city of Melbourne). I have traveled extensively and always carried my Nikon SLR dutifully wherever I go. Traveling and the adventures this brings would not be complete without a series of photos to document the experience. I like to capture the people I meet, the culture and environment with well-composed and sensitive portrayals. Photography took me to Malaysia in 2011 for the ASEF 17th University: ‘Cultural Heritage Challenges and Opportunities’. The outcome from two weeks spent in Georgetown was an exhibition entitled ‘Shared Heritage: As We See It’. The photographs illustrated cultural heritage in a way that could not be expressed in words. Photography enables me to express myself, to tell stories and to capture memories. The opportunity of this scholarship and mentorship in Oman, would help me develop my current skills to a professional level.
