My Scholarship entry - Around the Ring in 30 Days

My name is Nikki, and I am a World Nomad. I began traveling at 19 and I have since been all over the world, generally stopping long enough to fund travel to the next place. In Spring of 2013, I began a through-hike of the Appalachian Trail and at the halfway point, I got a bus and a plane to Reykjavik, where I began a 30 day trip around Iceland on the Ring Road. Having been fresh off the trail at the time, my photos from Iceland were all taken with my iPhone and remain unedited. I returned to the Trail after this adventure and finished my hike, but the Land of Fire and Ice still calls my name to return to it and explore more. I feel that every photo I take is a moment in time I have captured for all time. Whether it's landscapes or locals; mountains or macro - that is the heart of photography for me; my form of expressing various ways of life through art. Living is my pastime; Photos are my passion. And that is why I should be chosen to take on this great opportunity for adventure. :)
