it's weird to think I have been traveling for 3 weeks now. not only has it gone super fast, but I have flown more than 32 hours which doesn't include over 35 hours of connections waiting in airports and have really only spent one week in california and just on two weeks in buenos aires. my first week in California was spent by the lakes around Tahoe (where I also spent my winter just 6 months previous) and just relaxing in the approx 40 degree pure sunshine. we went to the most stereotypical American country concert, I attempted to wakeboard, I learnt that mormans can have a good time and all in all I spent the week easily with sarah sevey and should have definitely made that part of the trip longer.
now my two weeks in ba. tourists seem to get trapped in ba and I see how. it's a great city, that has weekly markets, buses that operate 24 hours a day, a subte(subway) that costs under 25 cents for a trip and a nightlife that is happening every night but just doesn't get going till 3am. in the end you sleeping gets thrown off and it just makes it all the more difficult to fall out of this routine when you try to leave it. in the end it is just too easy to sit in the hostel and do absolutely nothing and drink (with 1L of vodka being under 4 dollars and 2 pints of beer 5 dollars it's not an expensive routine to keep up with)
however I am now living in an apartment with three 24 year old locals, I am able to get to Spanish school on time in the mornings and volunteer at the slums in the afternoon. this will be my life for the next 3 weeks and I can still go to the hostel for my weekends where i have met way too many people from melbourne, but still managed to meet people from countless other countries.
