This Side of the Blue

Kia Ora family and friends!

For those not privy - I'll catch you all up to date.  I graduated from Humboldt State this past May, 2008 - and feeling an overwhelming urge to puddle jump I pled no comment on my student loans, dropped all my possessions on my unsuspecting and supportive friends, and boarded a 30ft sailboat with two strangers and my only belongings strapped to my back... 

We had found ourselves in 30 feet of freedom... sailing the world's largest ocean from Newport OR to Opua NZ - island hopping all the way!  We hit up a mess of south pacific islands, reefs, and atolls... in search of the perfect surf, warm coral diving, and a taught fishing line...!

After landing in New Zealand, ol' TallwaterII went up for sale, and I worked on getting my land legs back.  I've obtained a yearlong working visa, and purchased a li'l Shuttle stationwagon.  Living out of my car seems to eerily resemble life in a sailboat, and we've even done a bit of island hopping together.

After living and working in New Zealand for the next year or so, I'll continue on with my goal of continuing westward around the planet.  I guess its my own version of Manifest Destiny.  Please feel free to use this blog to follow along with my ongoing misadventures and fish stories!
