Our first introduction to Ecuador after crossing the border from Peru by bus. This is what awaited us in Puerto Lopez, our first destination. Drizzle, drizzle, drizzle and a lot of mud. Up to our eyeballs in it!!

The cabin we stayed in for a few days in Puerto Lopez. The owners were environmental conservationists who would make regular trips to the amazon jungle with tourists who wanted to do some volunteer work.

This was a community of locals. Tourists could stay with a family here for a while to learn and help out. There were some archeological findings here as well.
