Flying Solo

I chose Coney Island as a subject because despite currently living in New York, neither I nor my friends had ever visited it before. I prefer to travel without having any preconceived notions, and this seemed like just the opportunity. I am currently a student in Film/TV production at NYU, and have experience primarily in Event videography through various internships and collaborations with fellow students. I will be honest in saying that I am not satisfied with my presenting skills, and while I feel confident in my abilities as a videographer, I want to expand the areas I feel comfortable in. This scholarship would be an opportunity for me to become more versed in an aspect of documentary television that I would like to eventually turn into my career. Despite the fantastic film program at my school, television and documentary (my two main areas of interest) are not encouraged the way they should be, so I crave the opportunity to gain experience through a mentorship program. I have extensive travel background, and being able to merge my two passions within a single program, and somehow also cross a major item off of my bucket list (Carnival in Rio), sounds pretty groovy.
