23rd jan- 1st feb

Well again, there's not so much to write about just writing for the sake of keeping up with doing the blogs I suppose.
For the last few days we've done more job searching and handing out of cvs. We had a bad day the other day of realising this part of the trip could potentially have been a mistake as we're not having any luck and just going way over budget to be here. We came here looking for work that would help our careers when we get back, I'm willing to do fruit picking or farm work but Liam feels its not worth it. we have a few potentials lined up but if they don't come through then we need to leave very soon and cut our losses. Our plan of action is also potentially changed now as well because of the disaster zones up the east coast due to the cyclone- so we will just wait and see what life throws at us in the next few days.

We had the weekend over Australia Day bank holiday to ourselves in the house as the family we're with went to Adelaide to visit some friends. Liam had an interview in the city which went well, I was supposed to have a trial day at a new place but when I turned up they told me they'd have to rearrange. Fuming isn't the word after traveling an hour and a half to get there. Anyway we came back and spent the afternoon chilling out, I caught up on some programmes and Liam updated his cv for another job.

Saturday we went to scienceworks, which is a museum a bit out of the city. It was a nice day out, although it was aimed at families it was still really fun and informative. There was a big room called the carnival of science which showed the science behind carnival tricks, a planetarium where we watched a 40 minute show about black holes which was amazing because the seats reclined all the way back and the screen was the ceiling. We spent a good 4 or 5 hours in there before heading back home to a small BBQ for two and a movie.
Sunday was a day where I spent most of it upset over how we were going to manage financially and being majorly peed off about not having jobs yet. Liam went out with his friend John to see his new house and visit Frankston. They saw the sand sculpture exhibit from outside the fence which saved them the admission fee which I thought was quite funny. When Liam returned we settled down for the evening before I skyped Shelley and lizzie really late at night for a quick catch up which was a nice end to a horrible day.

The day after I baked a Victoria sponge cake in the morning, then we went out with John in the afternoon. We got chips from the chip shop and went up to Arthur's seat ( a tourist spot on the peninsula), and ate them whilst looking out over the peninsula. It was really beautiful, and although John said its usually not quite so overcast to us it didn't seem overcast at all. We visited johns parents place, which is empty at the moment, before heading back home and making contingency plans together for our impending failure to get a job within our specified time limit.

In the middle of job hunting we've also been out to healsville sanctuary with Paula and the kids for a day which was a lovely day out. The sun was shining all day, and it wasn't overly crowded due to the school holidays being finished.
We spend a good 5 hours there, going to see various types of animals which are being looked after there. We went to see a bird show where the birds flew right over your head for you to see what they looked like close up, Liam teared up he thought it was so beautiful! We saw a platypus show where the staff were playing with them in the water which was so cute. And also a reptile show with lots of different lizards and snakes which we all got to have a feel of. We saw some people in an enclosure feeding the kangaroos, liam was more upset than the kids that we didnt have the kind of ticket that allowed us to do that too! It's unfortunate that we didnt get to take pictures right up to the end of the day because the battery ran out, but despite not capturing it all the kids and adults all had a great day, although by the end we were all really really tired!

Writing this in between applying for jobs and waiting for phone calls regarding potential ones, the nest time I write we will either be working somewhere or moving on to continue our adventure
