My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Australia | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
My camera is my digital sketchbook. I use photography to collect; things that catch my eye, things that are out of the ordinary. I suppose, things that tell a story, but not the most obvious one. When visiting a new place, I take images of the things that I want to remember, that arouse my curiosity, and that I want to revisit. I pick up on the differences, even if those differences are just mailboxes to some people.
And I hold my hands up to being a point and shoot photographer. Not in a get lucky way where I don’t know what I’m aiming for. I know how to select and compose and image and I think I have a talent for seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary, I just don’t know the technical stuff. I like to learn by doing and this opportunity is the ultimate ‘doing’. I’m sure that with the right mentoring, my quirky images can develop into professional shots.
And I’m all about paying it forward; in fact you’ve caught me at the right time because 2013 is my year of paying it forward. I’m never happier than when I’m giving, and usually that giving involves my art. I work with all kinds of people to enrich their lives through creative activity, if you're curious, see my blog
