A Little Bit Goes A Long Way

A Little Bit Goes A Long features a series of photographs of children and their parents living in the longhouses of Borneo where life isn't a bed of roses there. Parents sacrifice and work very hard to ensure their children get to go to school and live a comfortable life. However, not every household is capable of doing so. It was heart breaking to see children having to walk miles and climb up and down hills from their home to go to school everyday, whilst parents had to sacrifice time at work to ensure the safety of their children because there is no other way of transportation such as school busses or mini vans. On the other hand, there are some households where the children are taken care of their grandparents, and they don't get a chance to be exposed to books or an opportunity to go to school because they can't afford it. Thus, hopefully kind souls would help donate to these children so they have a chance to be exposed to books and receive proper education so they can change their lives around in the future. I'm a twenty year old student, who recently graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Visual Communication and has passion for photography, particularly in shooting portraits and especially of children. They say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so hopefully that will translate into stories to touch hearts of the public and spread love to those children in need. Visual communication through photographs would serve as a powerful tool to help those children because I believe every child deserves a right to receive education regardless of race, religion or status. My hope and dream is to travel even deeper to rural areas of longhouses to help the children in there that are in dire need of help, God willing, I will be able to help make a difference in their lives.
