Hacking away. Years of experience baying off, in a matter of seconds he has shelled the first coconut so we can taste the sweet coconut water which was greatly appreciated as it was incredibly hot.

High up.

He uses an incredibly sharp bush knife to cut off the leaves and coconuts. It’s a valuable source of income as the coconuts are not just used for food and water but they can be used to make several items including coconut soap and jewelry.

His “machine”.

He refers to his wooden devise as the “machine” - a stool with a sharp blade to use on the drier coconuts - the coconuts with less water to get the coconut out. He mentions that Westerners prefer the drier variety.
