My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Indonesia | Monday, September 27, 2010 | 5 photos
Tana Toraja, a small part of Sulawesi, Indonesia is famous for its buffalo sacrifice for the dead. The annual ceremony called Rambu Solo. At least a dozen buffaloes sacrificed, which believed to help bring the soul of the dead to heaven. The most valuable buffalo would be the one with albino like. Cost hundreds of million Rupiahs.
I went there on early July 2010 and find myself trying hard to understand why people in Toraja insist on having these rituals though cost them lots and lots of money. I guess it got to do with traditions, and faith to follow the footsteps of their ancestors. Only by traveling then I can get myself closer to any culture and tradition, spread in varieties all over the world. That's why this opportunity to Bhutan and see what it's like to experience an adventure of seeing a National Geographic photographer on set, would be an experience of a life time.
