Melbourne Traffic - My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Australia | Tuesday, July 2, 2013 | 5 photos

I get through each day of non-photographic work knowing that I'll eventually be back outside, camera in hand. Practice makes perfect and I constantly add to my portfolio, learning which methods work best in an attempt to eventually work as a travel photographer. During my time in the Army, I developed the ability to look not at a jungle, but instead through it, greatly aiding my observant eye. I'm passionate about taking photos because it is a lifelong learning experience that will always present new challenges.
As a self-taught photographer, I hope to learn as much as possible from the trip and from Jason's experience. The majority of my photos are taken purely for myself without any external pressures or restrictions. I wish to learn how to continue to take appealing photographs while under the pressures of time plus the client's expectations.
I aim to reveal the beauty of Greenland to others while also highlighting how fragile this region is to our planet's changing climate. People always ask me how I create my images, and after the trip I hope to pass on my technical and theoretical knowledge by volunteering at a new institution for adult learning in Melbourne.
